Hello, my name's Louise Marritt. I'm a 24 year-old-girl from Beverley, East Yorkshire.

I'm going to attend Bishop Burton College in September 2010 to study Animal Management for 3 years. Before I begin my course I'm going to Phuket, Thailand to volunteer at Soi Dog Foundation in Mao Khao.

Soi Dog Foundation (SDF) is a not-for-profit, legally registered charitable organization, based in Phuket, Thailand, with the aim of setting an example for the rest of the Asian region on how to humanely reduce the number of unwanted dogs and cats through spaying and neutering, and to better the lives and living conditions of the stray dogs and feral cats of Thailand.

 How I Can Help

I am aiming to spend two months volunteering with the organisation, covering menial tasks such as cleaning, feeding, grooming and walking the animals. However I will also be spending time with the animals, allowing them to become used to human companionship. This is very important, as it increases the chance of the animals being rehomed.

How You Can Help

I will be self-funding this trip, and receiving no payment for my work, because of this my budget will be very sparse.  My flight is around £800, my daily budget for food and living is £10, while my accomodation will be around £600.

I need to raise around £900 to hit my target, and any amount over this will be given as a donation to Soi Doi Foundation.

You can help by sponsoring me, every little really does make a huge difference.

You can do this by clicking here:

All sponsors will receive a mention on this website and on a travel blog that I will be keeping to raise awareness of animal care in SE Asia.

Alternatively you can visit my Folksy Shop, where you can buy cute amigurumi animals, and 100% of proceeds will go towards my trip.

And if you can't afford to pledge any money, or make a purchase you can send supportive messages on my comments page.

Thank you for your help.
